PIKES PEAK, COLORADO, November 1996 ... The Pikes Peak
Country Attractions Association (PPCAA) started offering coupons
over the Internet in the beginning of June 1996. As the season
ends, the attractions report a high return rate, over $14,500,
on the Internet coupon program.
This is the first summer twenty-four area attractions offered
coupons over the Internet. The process allows discount coupons
to be printed out at home and redeemed. The system allows the
attractions to track the effectiveness of their Internet
advertising efforts.
Overall, the Internet coupons benefit travel businesses in the
Pikes Peak region. Within a three month period, approximately
2,700 people took advantage of the discounts with over 800
coupons redeemed. With such positive results, the coupons will
return.
"We are very pleased with the results," says Kitty Bubick,
executive director of the PPCAA. "Look for new coupons before
the 1997 summer season."
PPCAA's home page represents over 30 local companies. The PPCAA
home page offers such amenities as maps, music and translation
into Japanese. The site receives approximately 100,000 hits each
month
